Legal Framework for Media, Ahmed Ouyahia
Algiers-Algerian media has the right to work within a legal framework and the state did not ignore their demands, PM Ahmed Ouyahia, said during a press conference here on Friday.
“The state did not ignore media which has the right to work within a legal status based on freedom of expression. Media common demands like creating a law for media, freedom of speech and social insurance. Public and private media do not have the same status. In public media there are no workers who get less than 15.000 dinars monthly. Waiting for the convention on the branches that will convince or not. Private media speak a lot about freedom, democracy and the protection of human rights but paid monthly wages worth 5000 dinars for some workers Acts of this kind of media institutions are incompatible with the ideas they publish ”, Ouyahia added.
“Media has power to direct public opinion. The National Democratic Assembly supports the promotion of media freedom”, he asserted.
