Libya closes borders with Algeria
Libyan leader Maamar Gaddafi
Libyan authorities closed the crossing point in Ghdames town bordering the province of Illizi (south of Algiers) on Friday, Echorouk has learnt.
- Libyan police prevent any Algerian from entering the country and any Libyan from getting out. The decision excluded ill people who are in serious state, an official said.
- A month ago, Libyan authorities opened borders with Algeria without any financial condition. Two years ago, they imposed to pay 1,000 euros and 150 Libyan dinars to allow cars to enter to Libya for any reason either touristy or commercial. This decision raised anger among Algerians as it was banned for Tunisians only.
