Libyan FM, Mohamed Abdelaziz, denied the existence of an Algerian force that conducts military operations in the Libyan soil.

Libyan official relied in this information to what he heard from his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Laamamra, asserting that there is a coordination between the two parties in tightening security measures on the borders with Libya by the Algerian side.

Jeune Afrique magazine quoted the Libyan FM as saying; “Leaks speak about the existence of an Algerian military unit in the Libyan soil. I am in continuous contact with my Algerian counterpart. We met on June 24 on the sidelines of the African Union Summit. There are no Algerian operations on the Libyan soil, but Algeria decided to tighten its presence on the borders to prevent the entry of terrorists. We support these efforts to secure the borders”.

Libyan explanations came to refute what was published by national and foreign media, about Algerian Military operations in the Libyan soul. Algerian armed forces launches the first military operation of the kind outside the country since independence.

For its part, the military institution declared, on the mouth of a senior official, who told Echorouk that the Algerian army did not and will not enter the Libyan territories under any pretext.

“Algeria has permanent belief that is based on securing the borders and protecting the stability, without interference in countries’ internal affairs”.
