Libyan Transitional Council’s memorandum against Algeria is banned and baseless: Source
Mustapha Abdejalil, chairman of the Libyan Transitional Council

The complaint lodged by the Libyan Transitional Council accusing Algeria of transporting mercenaries to Libya is legally baseless and will not have any effect, a source from the Arab League said.

  • “The Arab League has not recognised this Council as a representative of the Libyan State. France is the only nation which recognises it,” the source told Echorouk.
  •
  • “The Arab League has its own rules. Anything out of the law is not significant,” it added.
  •
  • The source also said the complaint is legally baseless because the Council does not have any status at the Arab League and it was not officially recognised.
  •
  • “The Arab League will not react with the complaint. There should be evidences. The complaint will be banned and rejected.”
  •
  • Previously, the Algerian interior and foreign ministers denied the Libyan Transitional Council’s allegations that Algeria had transported mercenaries to Libya.
  •
  • “Algeria is not playing. Its position and reaction was clear. We will not respond any more. The interior minister Dahou Ould Kablia said the allegations are as part of an attempt o tarnish Algeria’s image,” said the diplomatic source.
