Local companies to be given priority in dam construction projects, Sellal
Minister of Water Resources Abdelmalek Sellal said on Tuesday the government is due to allocate dam construction projects to local state owned and private companies, as they master modern techniques relating to this field.

Mr Sellal told reporters at the sidelines of the work visit he conducted to Laghouat province, that a local company has managed building a dam inline with international standards, which is an achievement in itself.
He further added that the government has boosted several local companies who weresuffering financial troubles, including SIDAR and SEROR by allocating them projects to construct dams in Souk Ahras and Mascra.
On another side, the official said the state owned water management company Algerienne des Eaux has a 25 billion dinar non refunded debts, the majority of which are owed to state owned gas and electricity distributor Sonelgaz.
Mr Sellal has also revealed that the government is to launch new talks with private water management company Seal in view of extending its contract.
