Maadjid Bougherra nominated for the best African player of the Year
The African Football Confederation (CAF) has selected the Algerian international and Glasgow Rangers’ defender Madjid Bugherra to be among the 10 African players to compete for the best player of the year 2010.
- The selection of the Algerian player from the African technical and sports committees as well as media was expected on account of his top class performances over the year in different competitions either with his Scottish club Glasgow Rangers or with the Algerian national team crowned by a participation in the South African world cup competition and his overall performance in the African Cup of Nations in Angola where he reached the semi finals.

- Madjid Bougherra was picked up among the best African players of the year led by the Ivorian Didier Drogba and the Cameroonian Samul Eto’.
- In a previous declaration Madjid Bougherra has nominated the Cameroonian player Samuel Eto’ to be the best player of the year after snatching three trophies in a row last year with his club Inter Milan.
- The ceremony is due to take place in the Egyptian capital city, Cairo, on December 20.
- It should be noted that the list of the nominees has sparked huge controversy last month prompting the CAF to release a communiqué denouncing the list reported by some media.

- 10- Seidou Keita ( Barcelona, Mali)
