Maj. Gen. Cherif Abderrazak: “Ghardaia will remain a symbol of tolerance, social cohesion”

During the ceremony of honoring the National People’s Army institution on Sunday, at the headquarters of Ghardaia province, Major General, Cherif Abderrazzak, reassured the region’s population, that the city exceeded the events that befell them, saying: “The acts of violence passed as coolness and peace for our country and our people.

Events have afflicted the hearts of all Algerians, and here is Ghardaia today thanks to everyone’s efforts and the people enjoyed tranquility in an atmosphere of solidarity and cooperation within the principles of Islam.”

“Confidence that is enjoyed by the military institution has made the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, appointed this ancient institution, in the framework of the constitutional functions, to supervise on the work of the security services and the concerned local authorities, in order to restore public security and maintain it across the province of Ghardaia, southern Algeria.

“As far as I was honored to do these tasks, the more I put on a heavy burden on my shoulders in starting quickly to contain the situation, and take the necessary actions that would stop violence, which was done with the grace of Allah and through everyone’s efforts, to go beyond the crisis and its repercussions.”

“National People’s Army focused on three axes for the return of security to the area, as the first phase included the restoration of the security deployment in the form which allows strong return of security and normal life to the city, while the second phase was represented in the restoration of life and properties, which return to the commercial activity and open shops after the situation began to improve, while the third axis was based on launched reconciliation and discuss the various ways that hinder the dialogue efforts in order to reach a lasting peace, in addition to the distribution of appropriate compensations according to each case, and to work on the distribution of lands and state subsidies to the beneficiaries, as well as the material and moral support to all the people of the region.

Commander of the fourth military region vowed, in the letter’s text, which was read in front of a gathering of elders and high officials, to work with everyone, without distinction, in order to remain the city of Ghardaia as it was defined by historians as a model of coexistence and brotherhood.
