Many College students injured as attempting to protest near President Office

A lot of students of Colleges on Monday have been injured after attempting to reach the President Office in El Mouradia suburb in Algiers.

  • The Police have arrested dozen students, before releasing them a couple of hours later, while injured protesters have been evacuated to hospitals.
  • The irritated students have managed blocking the southern entrance of the main street leading to the Presidency, for more than four hours before being forced out by the mass presence of police officers.
  • The push and pull continued between the protester and the law and order forces, until midday, when the students managed to reach the main street leading to the President Office and blocking it of traffic for two hours. At this moment, hundreds of residential doctors have reached the protest spot, and threatened to carry out unlimited protest. When the students tried to force out the police cordon to link their protest to the residential doctors in front of President Office, the police elements used force and banged the protesters, injuring and arresting many. Yet, the residential doctors’ protest has seen no violent events.
