Matmour in Australia
Australia’s Adelaide United Monday announced that former Algerian international player Karim Matmour will play with the club for a year.
Matmour, 32, had played for Germany’s TSV 1860 Munich since summer 2016 as part of a contract which expires in June 2018. Yet, he did not continue with the German club and preferred to undergo a new football adventure in Australia.
The striker is now the first Algerian international player who plays with an Australian club.
Adelaide United Marco Kurz said Matmour is a big asset to the club as he has a valuable experience, a strong and respectful personality.
Matmour said he knows Kurz and praised his competence.
He added that he does not have a lot of information about the Australian championship. Because of that, he contacted his friend Jason Alan Davidson, an Australian international player who encouraged him to join Adelaide United.
Matmour had played in German, England and the UAE’s championships. Now, he will undergo a new football experience in Australia.
Adelaide United was founded in 2003. Some football stars played with it such as Brazilian Romario in 2006-2007.
