MDG Summit:Ban Ki-Moon greets Algeria's high performance in Africa

Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met Monday in the United Nations headquarters in New York, where they broached several international issues.
- The meeting held on the margins of the 65th session of the UN general Assembly, the two sides reviewed relations between Algeria and the United Nations and tackled a number of international topics, including conflicts in Africa.
- Concerning the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to which current General Assembly issue is devoted, Ban Ki-moon greeted Algeria’s high performance, mainly in eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, reducing child mortality, and promoting gender equality and empowering women.
