Medhat Chalabi: “I will welcome the JS Kabylie squad at the airport…!”
Against all expectations, the Egyptian TV anchorman, Medhat Chalabi, has said that he is ready to greet at the airport the Algerian squad of JS Kabylie who will face the Ismaili team later this week in an African cup qualifying match in Egypt.
-
Medhat Chalabi’s baffling about-turn is all the more surprising as he was in the recent past among the most ferocious firebrands behind the infamous Egyptian media onslaught against Algeria and its symbols in the aftermath of Algeria’s meritorious qualification for the 2010 World cup tournament after shutting out Egypt in the qualifiers.

The outrageous attitude of the troublesome Egyptian media has been toned down over the past few days in the wake of Egyptian President Hosni Moubarak’s recent visit to Algiers during which he expressed his condolences to the head of state Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika following the death after a long illness of his brother Mustapha.

-
Skipper Mustapha Younes and the son of Egypt’s national coach Hassen Chahata, Karim Chehata lamely said that President Moubarak’s recent visit to Algiers was of a political nature, stressing that they did not want to indulge in politics forgetting by the same token that the Egyptian slanderous media campaign against a dignified Algeria did not spare anything not even our glorious Martyrs and our national flag.

Now, the boomerang effect is ostensibly being felt in Egypt itself!
