Medjani: you will be recognized in Algeria more than any other country
Algerian defender Carl Medjani called on players of dual-citizenship to choose Algeria instead of France, following captain Sofiane Faghouli who made a similar statement.
“I am proud to be Algerian. I guess I understood what is Algeria and the meaning of the national team. A player in Algeria gets recognition he can not have it in any other country,” Medjani told a website.
“Playing for Algeria changed a lot in my lifestyle, thoughts and vision to reality. Thanks to the Algerian team, I have become more patriotic. Playing with the Green changed my thinking way and vision to the world in my daily life. I discovered my country and its culture,” he added.
He believes that winning with the Algerian team in big matches can not be compared to the place he gained in Algeria.
“I was hosted and accepted although my mother is French. This is the greatest victory ever for me. I am respected by Algerian fans. My name is Karl. My mother is French but I am wearing the Algerian shirt in the pitch,” he said.
Earlier, Sofiane Faghouli said players of dual-citizenship suffer in the French championship and are not treated like the others.
