Abdelkader Messahel, Minister of Maghrebin and African affairs

Minister of Maghrebin affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel said Algeria is concerned about the absence of political and security stability in Libya.

“Algeria works with Libya’s neighbours in collaboration with the United Nations to reach a political solution without any foreign interference,” Messahel told a monthly magazine.

“The absence of authorities and legitimate, strong and fair institutions serves terrorist groups and expands their criminal act. Libya should have a central government able to fight terrorist groups on its land,” he added.

He also said the number of Algerian nationals living in conflict areas is estimated at “tens”. Most of them have dual citizenship.
