Messahel: Algeria will not intervene military in Syria
Algerian Minister for Maghrebin Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel Friday said Algeria has a well-known position and will interfere in others’ affairs.
“Our position is well-known. We will not interfere in others’ affairs. This is a principle and a culture for Algeria. We believe in political solutions through dialogue and respect of national sovereignty. Algeria does not interfere in Syria’s affairs,” Messahel told a Russian news agency.
A meeting was held between Messahel and Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.
“This meeting is very important. Russia is an ally of the Arab World regarding political and security conditions in the region. There is a distinguished relation in politics and culture. This expresses Russia’s interest in the Arab World. We also expressed our interest in relations with Russia as an ally and a neighbour,” said the Algerian minister.
“Lavrov will visit Algeria next Monday. It is an important event. It is part of political and economic relations with the Russian ally. There is an accord signed by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Russian counterpart,” he added.
