Ministers must not attend Parliament decisions, says deputies
Deputies at the People’s National Assembly (APN) did not want ministers to intervene in examining modifications done by Parliament’s commissions on draft bills.
- Deputy from Change block Abderrezak Achouri criticised ministers for attending official decisions of the health commission. He stressed the necessity of discussing modifications suggested by deputies in absence of the cabinet’s representatives.
- Parliament’s speaker Abdelaziz Ziari said consultations are conducted between deputies only because the final decision is made by them.
- The president of the health commission Belkacem Kouadri said the final decision is made by those who modify the bill.
- An article from social insurances law was debated by deputies and the health commission. Four modifications were made.
- The majority of Parliament’s deputies adopted the draft bill expect the Workers’ Party which voted by No. The Algerian National Front (FNA) and the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) continue boycotting Parliament’s proceedings.
- All the modifications presented by the deputies were rejected.
