Corruption scandals in Egypt are appearing day after day. The latest one was of member of the Executive Committee of both FIFA and CAF Hani Abou Rida who is involved in wrongdoings relating to African Cup matches.

  • The CAF will get $150 million from TV broadcasting and marketing incomes in the next eight years. It has obtained $5 million per year for 2 years and it got $5.5 million every two years for African Cup rights.

  • According to Egyptian reports, CAF marketing commission sold African Cup TV rights for $16 million for 8 years.

  • Al Ahram newspaper said the CAF was involved in African Cup TV rights scandal for the next ten years while Abou Rida’s mandate is expected to end in 2010.

  • Head of the International Handball Federation Hassan Mustafa got 602,000 euros from Sportfive which had been in charge of the Federation TV rights marketing, according to a German magazine.

  • A source at the German company’s headoffice said two contracts were signed with a consultative company owned by Hassan Mustapha. It is called Sport Group based in Cairo.

  • The consultation value was divided into two parts. The first one was estimated at 300,000 euros while the second part reached 302,000 euros, said the same source.

  • Hassan Mustapha issued a release to defend a contract signed between Sportfive and Sport Group, saying it is a “normal commercial relation.”

  • He also said his company consultative services and contract with Sportfive have nothing to do with his position as the Handball Federation’s head.

  • He believes his business was correct and his position at the time of the contract signature was a businessman.
  •  
  • “I had a deal with Fivesport during the contract signature to not inform the media about its contents,” he said.
