Monthly grant lifted, military service period counted in retirement

New draft law related to the national service which includes eight doors, includes many encouraging measures to urge concerned youth to respond to the national service call, such as lifting the monthly grant and counting the period of national service, as a real service in the retirement, in addition to reducing the period of performing service from 8 to 12 months.
National Defense Committee at the National People’s Council met on Sunday, headed by Ben Merabet Fouad, the Committee’s Head, as it listened to an offer by the Minister of Relations with Parliament on behalf of the Maj. Gen Guaid Salah, Deputy of the Defense Minister and Head of the Army Command, with the presence of officials from the National Defense Ministry, to discuss the draft law on national service.
Government representative asserted in his intervention that the national service and defense task is a key in the efforts for development in all fields that Algeria launched through its contribution in realizing various social and economic project, adding that the objective that was followed to realize the new draft law comes within the framework of constitutional, economic and social changes that are noticed in Algeria, and to support the principal of the state law, considering the draft law, a mirror on changes that are noticed in the National People’s Army, by refocusing on the activity of national service in training citizens in order to fulfill the national defense needs in the first degree.
