Operations of digging up groud that were carried out by units of the National People’s Army on Algeria’s Western border, raised high alert amid Moroccan authorities, represented by its Interior Ministry, which gave orders to the agents of the power including elders, sheikhs and presenters to move quickly along the border strip, specifically the region between Djebel Asfour and the Roubane regions on the Algerian border.

Agents of the Moroccan Intelligence are sending daily reports about the movement of machines for digging up the ground, by the People’s National Army forces which are working in coordination with the border guards, for the expansion of the ditch, that was expended to the length of 7 meters wide, instead of 3 meters and 10 meters in depth, rather than five meters, as part of the strategy by the Algerian authorities for complete elimination of the phenomenon of smuggling, especially what is smuggled from the Moroccan territory of toxins and drugs and hallucinogenics, in exchange for subsidized food and medicines and pharmaceutical equipment, including fuel, of all kinds.

Moroccan authorities did not wait too long, to send their agents to the villages and areas near the border, where they provided motorcycles that enables them to penetrate more into the dirt tract, in order to monitor the movements of the National People’s Army personnel, during the digging operations.

It seems that the Moroccan regime does not like the works of expansion on the basis of eliminating the phenomenon of smuggling, but they have been adapted in the context of provocation by describing it as a “tense atmosphere”, in an attempt by the Moroccan authorities to give the impression that the situation in the Moroccan-Algerian border is not good, which is incompatible with the reality on the Algerian border, where things are going very well, and there is nothing to worry about, regardless of the daily strikes by the various Algerian security forces against the Moroccan smugglers of cannabis.

An informed source said the works of expanding the ground trench is essentially a preventive measure by the Algerian authorities, after making sure there are no gaps on the E-Wall level, that is funded by the European Union at the Moroccan soil, and along the Moroccan-Algerian border, which means that there are manipulations and abuses by the Moroccan authorities, during the completion of the e-wall project, which seems to be just like throwing dust in the eyes of international public opinion on the one hand, and on the other hand to escape legal accountability by international organizations, considering that this wall was created mainly to curb illegal immigration, but there are gaps and conquests, which strengthens uncertainty in the Moroccan regime’s intentions behind this project, which was completed with European funds.
