Morocco Ambassador Withdraws From Algeria Revolution Day Ceremony In Doha
Morocco ambassador to Qatar, Nabil Znibar, withdrew on Tuesday evening from a ceremony that was held by the Algerian Embassy in Doha on the occasion of the first of November, amid astonishment of the representatives of foreign diplomatic missions by the behavior of the Moroccan ambassador, which was contrary to diplomatic norms, especially during the ceremony of celebrating Algeria Revolution Day
Echorouk quoted sources as saying that the incident of the withdrawal of the Moroccan ambassador took place during the presentation of the Ambassador of Algeria to Qatar, Abdel Aziz Sabaa, of the official speech at the ceremony, as he stated the positions of Algeria on the Western Sahara issue, saying: “In the Maghreb, the continuation of the conflict in Western Sahara continues to impede the building of a union that meets the aspirations of the peoples of the region. Algeria considers this conflict to be a decolonization issue. It is also classified by the United Nations and is subject to its responsibility, and there is no settlement of the file but with legitimate self-determination in accordance with international legality and relevant Security Council resolutions “.
Withdrawal of the Moroccan ambassador surprised many ambassadors and members of the Algerian community, amid the presence of ministers from the Qatari government, especially as the ambassadors of Algeria are used to attend all the official ceremonies that are organized by the Moroccan embassy and the ambassadors address the Western Sahara issue from Morocco’s point of view, without raising any sensitivity, and no Algerian or Moroccan ambassador has ever left a ceremony that is organized by one of the embassies.
The position of the new Moroccan ambassador to Doha is no precedent, because He abstained from voting to renew confidence in the Algerian ambassador for a second term as Chairman of the African Group of Ambassadors in Qatar, contrary to the consensus of all ambassadors of African countries who agreed to renew confidence in the Algerian ambassador who has not been re-nominated for a second term, as one of the members of the initiative that culminated in the formation of the Ambassadors of the African Group and other blocks of Oceans and European Ambassadors for the collective representation of the continental nations in their relationship with the State of Qatar.
Since the statements that were made by the Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, during the summer forum of heads of institutions, in which he talked about the laundering of cannabis money by Moroccan banks in the continent, in addition to ensuring the Royal Airlines to transfer drugs as well, Morocco entered into a systematic campaign against Algeria, that begun with summoning the Chargé d’Affaires in Algerian embassy to Rabat and its ambassador to Algeria, and the absence from an international workshop on terrorism that was held in Algeria, despite the repeated statements by Moroccan officials about the lack of security cooperation between the two countries.
