Morocco king loses his mind
Morocco’s king Mohamed IV recalled his ambassador to Algeria for “consultations” over “provocative and hostile remarks” made by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in a summit in Abuja about Western Sahara on Monday.
Mohamed IV brought Algeria-Morocco relations into a dark tunnel. After his accusations, he turned into “recalling the ambassador” game which may precede the decision of freezing the relations.
This comes as protesters surrounded the Algerian embassy in Rabat on Wednesday shouting slogans praising the king.
The Moroccan foreign ministry alleged that the withdrawal came following “Algeria’s provocative and hostile actions against the Kingdom in terms of the regional conflict over Western Sahara.”
“Particularly, the Algerian president’s message on October 28 to Abuja’s meeting which has a hostile character against Morocco reflects this intentional desire for escalation,” it added.
“The intentional provocative contents and hostile statements in the message clearly reflect Algeria’s position as a stockholder in this conflict. It shows its real strategy based on political exploitation of human rights noble cause.”
Moroccan politicians tried to fuel the situation by accusing Algeria in order to gain their king’s satisfaction. Leader of Morocco’s Independence Party Hamid Chebat asked France to “eliminate the Algerian colonization in Moroccan lands,” citing Tindouf, Colon Abbas and areas in the province of Bechar (south of Algiers).
