Russia has recently provided Algiers with satellite images of terrorists operating on borders between Tunisia, Libya and Algeria as part of counterterrorism cooperation.

According to a Libyan channel, Russia also gave 27 names of extremists who entered Algeria with fake identities along with 9 others who may be hiding Algiers or went to Tunis.

The channel said around 450 people came back from Syria with fake passeports.

Investigations with arrested elements showed that terrorists plan to carry out simultaneous attacks in Tunisia and Algeria on the Victory Day (March 19th) in Algiers.

Tunisia media reports said Russia provided Algeria with images of terrorist groups operating on borders with Tunisia, Libya, Mali, Niger, Morocco and Mauritania.

The same source quoted an Algerian official saying that Algeria received about 500 photos taken on Algerian-Libyan and Algerian-Tunisian land borders. This enabled Algerian forces to foil many attempts to go through Libyan borders.

It added that Algeria was able to foil an another attempt of smuggling rockets, arms and ammunition. The Algerian army killed a leading terrorist working for Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in charge of operating in Tunisia and eastern Algeria. His name is Kamal Arbiya.

The same source said Algeria asked Russia for help to keep watch on its land, air and sea borders by providing it with satellite images as part of military cooperation.
