Mourad Medelci to visit Washington on Monday

Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci to visit Washington on Monday at the invitation of the U.S. Secretary of State Ms. Hilary Clinton, the ministry’s statement said here on Sunday.

“This important working visit to tighten ties between Algeria and the Unites States of America and would allow the FM Medelci to meet with a number of officials in the state and the White House. Medelci, the Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Department of State Daniel Benjamin and the Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. William Barnes will discuss the fight against terrorism”, the statement added.

“FM Medelci will also hold talks with John Bremen, Special Adviser to President Barrack Obama and with the State Secretary Hilary Clinton. In addition to talks on various aspects of bilateral ties which noticed a significant advance in recent years, head of the Algerian diplomacy will meet with American officials in the context of the regular in-depth dialogue on international and regional political issues, such as the situation in the Maghreb, the Sahel region, the Middle East, conflicts and Africa and the fight against terrorism”, it explained.

“The visit comes to show the excellent ties between the two countries in the context of numerous mutual visits of politician officials and parliamentarians, and businessmen, reflecting the common will to give more ambitious dimensions to the Algerian-American ties in terms of investment and partnership, as the United States is considered the first trade partner of Algeria with $16 b a total volume of exchange in 2010”.
