Murder of an Algerian Professor blows up riots among university students and workers

Algiers-Anti riots police cordoned off here on Thursday both the Central University and the University of Bouzareah where students organized a sit-in for a minute of a silence on the assassination of the professor of history.

 The students’ minute of silence turned into hours of anger condemning the mysterious death of their professor of history.

 A number of professors also gather in many universities of the capital along with students in a minute of silence in memory of Aicha Ghattas, 50 who was slaughtered in her house in Mohammadia by thieves, whilst professors continued working, students refused to join their classes and chanted slogans against the administration, then security services cordoned the university where the victim used to work.

 

Students of medicine expressed anger protesting the rejection of a meeting with the Committee of Medicine, and insisting on the abolition of a new system.

 

Students of Pharmacy and Dental Surgery entered their third month of strike and insist on continuing protests along with students of high schools.

 

Workers of Algiers Universities continue protesting against the administration’s refusal to integrate over 400 workers in the form of contract, asking government to pay the wages that remain outstanding since 2008 retroactively and accelerate the application of rules of the new compensatory system.
