Naftal’s officials involved in corruption scandal
The Algiers Prosecutor General ordered to open an investigation into service projects money embezzlement at Sonatrach. It has cost a loss of billions of dollars for more than 5 years.
This came following a report about money embezzlement-related scandals at Naftal company since 2011. Former service projects central director, former Secretary General of the union of the company’s workers and a number of officials were involved.
The report shows that the former central director scheduled Haj and Omra travels. He put at the disposal of the union’s Secretary General 13 tickets every year. Of them, he got five for free and four others for people he knew. The remaining four tickets were distributed to retired employees.
The same report requested an investigation into the financial situation of some former officials and employees as they have become very rich. It is believed that they were involved in suspicious deals concluded as Naftal’s former General Director was in power.
