National Data Bank To Detect Smugglers On Borders

National Gendarmerie leadership introduced a national structure that depends on private data bank on the identities of the smugglers and the judicially prosecuted in the smuggling, the quality of vehicles that were used for this purpose, phone numbers of those involved in areas where smuggling is spreading on the western border areas of the country.

Commander of the regional group of Gendarmerie in Tlemcen (western Algeria), Refada Mohamed Saleh, revealed, on Monday, on the development of this Data Bank, parallel with launching the scheme of “Lalla Meghnia”, to counter smuggling in the western borders of the country.

“New procedure, which will be circulated to the rest of the states of the country, through its data bank, will enable the identification of locations and the black areas for smuggling operations, to determine the pattern of smuggling at every point along the lines of drugs, food, fuel, clothing, cigarettes and other products.”

“National Data Bank on smuggling and smugglers can also identify persons who are suspected of involvement in smuggling at the level of the western border areas, with the identification of those involved and their assistants, or what is known as the “Guides”, with the identification of phone numbers that are used between smugglers, and the numbers of vehicles that are suspected of being used in smuggling by gangs, criminal cells and mafia of drugs’ operations.”
