National Forum on Trafficking: Electronic Control System necessary to secure Algerian borders

National Forum on Smuggling and its impact on the social and economic situation of the Algerian society, which was held last week, at the University of Abou Bakr Belkaid in Tlemcen (western Algeria), asked for the need to accelerate the completion of the borders’ electronic surveillance.
Forum was organized, in collaboration with the second region of the National Gendarmerie in Oran, over two days with the participation of 23 professors from the University of Tlemcen and Algiers, General Directorate of Forests, Senior officials from the General Command and regional leaders of the National Gendarmerie, security services of Telemcen, judicial system, and the Regional Directorate of Telemcen Customs.
Forum noticed presentations and discussions of multiple topics, which have been raised by the audience, by linking smuggling and its effects on society with the economy and security on more than one part, as final recommendations came for the valuation of the discussion that took place during the forum, through which participants assert on the need to activate and repeat such events for the development of knowledge work to study this dangerous phenomenon, which largely affected the society, economy and the Algerian security.
Perhaps one of the most important points that were raised by the final statement, is expediting the project of electronic surveillance on the wild Algerian borders, to give more effectiveness for the process of security control, to defeat the phenomenon, with the proposal by the joint committees, in order to think about the drafting of legal frameworks and knowledge that are able to combat the phenomenon of trafficking in terms of legal, economic and social dimensions.
Same forum also concluded to enabling researchers to take advantage of the research projects that are carried out on smuggling by building effective partnership and cooperation between the university and the various services that are concerned with the phenomenon of smuggling, and also put the facts, figures and statistics that were obtained in the hands of teachers and researchers, in order to analyze and study it scientifically, as it stressed the necessity of activating legal articles on combating smuggling.
