National Reconciliation complementary measures are expected: Azzi

Chief of the judicial assistance cell of the implementation of the law on the National Reconciliation Marwane Azzi Sunday said he expects that President Bouteflika would announce new decisions in the next few weeks.

  • “The new decisions would touch categories which were excluded from this law measures except people involved in massacres, bombings and rapes,” Marwane Azzi told Echorouk.

  • He added that Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia did not reject proposals presented by the cell. It suggested to extend the National Reconciliation measures to include excluded categories expect people involved in massacres, rapes and explosions.

  • “The president will announce complementary measures in the next few weeks as part of the Article No 47 of the law on the National Reconciliation,” he said.
  •  
  • Many categories’ pending situation is expected to be treated including children born in mountains, raped women and persons who were put in temporary prison and acquitted without getting compensation.
  •  
  • The issue of missing people can be added to the measures. About 400 people were neither mentioned in the list of missing people nor in the list of eliminated terrorists.
  •  
  • The complementary measures will also touch people who have been recently jailed accused of working for terror support cells and Islamist prisoners who were sentenced by military tribunals in 1992-1994.
