New revelations in Egypt have emerged over the involvement of president of Egyptian Football Association, Samir Zaher in plotting the stone-attack against the bus of Algerian football delegation in 14 November 2009 in Cairo, on the eve of World Cup 2010 qualifier clash.
- Former goalkeeper of Egyptian Zamalek and current of El-Gouna club, Mohamed Abdel Monsef revealed to Al Arabia.net: “I’m working with a group of sport and political activists on collecting new items proving that Zaher had incited some Egyptian fans to throw stones on the Algerian football team bus, which left some players injured.”
- He added: “We’ve decided to notify the general prosecutor and submit him this file in order to investigate on this case which almost sparked a political crisis between Algeria and Egypt.”
