Newborn slaughtered by a cat at hospital

The citizens of the province of Oran ( western Algeria) were thunderstruck by the news of the death of newborn baby at the hospital’s emergencies devored by a cat very late at night.

• The baby was put under intensive medical care after being attacked by the cat, but has succumbed to his wounds spreading deep sorrow among his parents and relatives.
• In the wake of this tragic several patients, currently treated inside the same unit, especially pregnant ones have called for firmer security measures to protect the infants that grew an easy pray for these felines.
• It should be noted that other cases of medical negligence have been registered in the past at the same unit when four pregnant women were hit by the H1N1 virus leading to the spread of the epidemic.
• An expectant mother has lost her baby when she was forced out by a nurse and was compelled to give birth to the baby in hospital’s yard very late at night. Other gross misconduct have been registered in the past including excessive use caesareans although future mothers could have given birth to their babies naturally, it said.
