Nine Algerian dancers run away in Canada
Algerian culture ministry prepared a detailed report about nine dancers run away and illegally stayed in Canada, Echorouk has learnt.

The dancers seized the opportunity of being in Canada as part of an artistic tour sponsored by the ministry. They are expected to be deported to Algeria when arrested by Canadian authorities, said the same sources.
The Algerian foreign ministry started notification procedures and preparing a report to its Canadian counterpart.
One of the dancers changed her mind and went to the Algerian embassy in Ottawa. She said she regretted about running away. The embassy took the necessary measures to take her to Algeria.
The ballet’s running away members do not suffer from any social problem as they have been employed by the national ballet institution for a year. They enjoy all their professional rights.
“We can justify that by the illegal immigration dream which has become an obsession among desperate young people due to social and living conditions,” the same sources told Echorouk.
“The ballet’s 16 members had the intention to run away collectively in their first tour outside Algeria but they were afraid of the possible consequences of their act.”
Two weeks ago, Algerian culture minister Khalida Toumi dismissed the manager of the national ballet institution as she had to choose between that job and her position in the ministry.
Direcor of the culture and information national office Lakhdar Ben Torki denied the running away dancers belong to the office. “The office supervises popular arts group and the dancers belong to the national ballet institution.”
