No Revocation Of Accommodation Certificate In France For Visa-Seeking Algerian Students

France will not review the already-enforced conditions for the granting of visas to Algerian students eager to follow studies in France, the French Interior Ministry said.

The latter will have to present either a French residency document or an advance financial booking at a French hotel.
The confirmation of this decision came during discussions on an MP’s written question at the French Senate dated 21 September 2017. A copy of which was received by ”Echorouk”.
It was an answer to French Senator Laurence Cohen’s question to the French Foreign Ministry, but the reply came from the Ministry of the Interior thus imposing discriminatory conditions on prior justifications for Algerian students before allowing them to reside in France during their period of studies there.
The number of student visas granted to Algerian students in 2016 was estimated at 7,431, an increase of 31 per cent over the previous year 2015, noting that the  recorded hike was 113 per cent between 2014 and 2015 and French parliamentary sources suggested that these figures reflected the will of the French authorities to pursue the smooth reception of Algerian students in French higher education institutions.
The French Interior Ministry explained to this effect the criteria for granting visas to Algerian students, saying that the relevant procedure has not changed,  while stressing that the French Consulates in Algeria are implementing the regulations in force, especially with regard to the students’ certified accommodation in France itself.
The French authorities consider that the cancellation of the Algerian student’s hotel booking or his change of residence address is detrimental to the applicant, adding that depriving the student of compulsory documents he ought to justify upon his arrival in France and during the first three months of his presence on French soil, may lead to a direct rejection of his visa file as part of the enforcement of strict controls to stave off possible fraud.
