Ould Abbas: “Armed Forces Will Not Interfere In Choosing Algeria Next President”

Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, is responsible for his statements on Morocco, General Secretary of the National Liberation Front Party, Djamal Ould Abbas, said.

“The Algerian constitution is clear, foreign policy and diplomatic relationships are the powers of the president and the foreign minister”.
“Former Energy Minister, Chakib Khalil, has nothing to do with justice and for evidence he is free”.
“I have all the confidence in Algerian justice and the statements of the Prime Minister and RND party General Secretary, Ahmed Ouyahia, regarding Chakib Khelil”.
Ould Abbas return again to comment on the statements of the Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, about Morocco, and for this time he chose to respond to journalists’ questions more clearly, saying: “Foreign Minister Messahel speaks on behalf of the president, who has all powers according to the constitution”.
On the other hand, Ould Abbas attended the Friday meeting with the members of the General Directorate of the electoral campaign and the secretaries of provinces and the members of the Political Bureau, to answer a question regarding the intervention of the military institution in the selection of Algeria’s next president, explaining: “Popular National Army will not intervene in this file, because it has a noble task to protect the border, and ensure the unity of the national territory”.
“Talk about the intervention of the army in the selection of presidents is just baseless words. There are partisan leaders who sleep on a dream to spread this idea on the pages of the newspapers”, in a clear reference to the head of the Movement for a Peaceful Society, Abdelmadjid Menasra, who recently said that the nature of the Algerian regime is clear in the selection of presidents.
Liberation Front Party General Secretary confirmed that his party is the number one in the country, adding that his meeting with the Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, came within the framework of governmental consultation, asserting that FLN is not do not frightened.
“We are the majority party and Algeria’s President for 2019 will be from FLN, and we will not accept another idea”.
Regarding the upcoming local elections, Ould Abbas confirmed that his party was ready to enter this date and would realize a surprise, acknowledging the existence of special difficulties at the municipal level.
“FLN entered 1535 municipalities while it swept the provincial councils”.
Regarding the involvement of the governors in rearranging the party lists, Abbas refuted what was raised on this issue, and said that what is raised here and there will not affect the party, which is looking to go to the next presidents with a strong local base to prove the old party.
Ould Abbas responded to his opponents in the party and confirmed that he is a secretary-general with the support of the majority of his party members.
“I did not ask to be Secretary-General and everything that was raised here and there will not make me lose my legitimacy”.
