Ouyahia Meets With Tunisia's Ennahda Movement Leaders

General Secretary of the National Democratic Rally, Ahmed Ouyahia, chaired a meeting with the official of the foreign relationships in the Tunisian Ennahda Movement, Rafik Abdessalem, in a very noticeable and unprecedented meeting with a party that is described the as an extremist Islamic movement that announced, in the last conference, the separation between politics and advocacy.

A brief statement, that was published on RND party’s official Facebook page, on Tuesday, “At the invitation of the office of the National Democratic Rally, a delegation from the Tunisian Annahda party, that is led by Dr. Rafik Abdessalem, official in the Department of Foreign Relationships of the Party, is paying a two days’ fraternal visit to Algeria. 
This visit allowed the holding of talks at the Headquarters, between the Tunisian Renaissance Party delegation and a delegation from the RND, that is headed by Ouyahia, and which focused on sharing political experiences of both parties, which affirmed the strength of the fraternal historical relationships between the Algerian people with the Tunisian people.
RND’s official spokesman, Chihab Seddik, told Echorouk about the first visit of its kind: “Today there is a trend in Annahda movement to separate between politics and advocacy, as it was decided at the last conference. The movement is open to all parties, and we are not far from Ennahda.”
“Talking about national, left-wing or Islamic parties are outdated ideas. Today there are denominators and common goals that we share with our brothers in Annahda movement, as is the case with the highlighting of the Maghreb dimension in the African continent, and crises in the neighboring countries.”
Concerning the crises, Chihab said: “We emphasized on the positions of the two countries from the Libyan crisis, which is that it has no solution but only a political solution, in addition to working more in order to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the popular side.”
In a statement for the national TV, Ouyahia said about the meeting: “This is a positive building block that we add as parties to what exists between the two peoples and leaderships levels. Discussion was rich, and we emphasized on the strength of the relationships in terms of solidarity and cooperation with them.”
Leader in Annahda Movement, Rafik Abdessalem, said: “We came to visit Algeria in the framework of the bilateral relationships with RND, to emphasize the strong relations between the two countries on the official and popular levels, as these relationships are strategic and we must all work to upgrade them to a higher level.”
