Over 131 Countries To Join Interpol's Database To Counter Terrorism, Drug and Human Trafficking

Interpol is preparing the ground for A Data Bank, with the participation of 131 countries, Secretary General of Interpol, Jurgen Stoke, said.

“This bank will contain millions of important information for identifying a new strategy to secure the borders from various transnational crimes, like the terrorist organizations, drug, human trafficking, and IT crimes as well”.

“Algiers meeting will allow the strengthening of cooperation with Algeria by identifying new forms of crimes, and the methods of control, thanks to the development of counter-strategy in the region and worldwide” .

“It will be an opportunity to showcase experiences in the fight against organized crime, IT crimes, terrorism and human trafficking” .

“Algeria has developed a lot of tools in the fight against cross-border crime. Algerian experience in this area is very useful for other countries”.

For his part, Major General, Abdelghani Hamel, who is also the General Manager of National Security, said after the meeting with the Secretary General of Interpol, Jurgen Stoke, that the meeting of the main offices of Interpol in the MENA region will focus mainly on Interpol’s 2022 road map”.

Works opened in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, Hassan Rabhi, and representatives of African Institutions that belong to the African Center for Studies and Research on Terrorism, partner organizations of the center, the Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union, Ismail Charki, Director of the African Center for Studies and Research on Terrorism, and the Special Representative of the African Union for Counter Terrorism Cooperation.

The meeting will be dedicated to provide analysis and presentation on terrorism in Africa, in order to improve coordination in the fight against terrorism and to identify ways and means to upgrade counter terrorism mechanisms, according to the organizers, who added that the meeting will discuss the “Security and National Structure and Mechanisms To Counter Terrorism, and Counter Terrorism Cooperation.
