Over 8000 Pharmacists protest in Algiers
Algiers-Over 8000 pharmacists from various localities protest here on Monday, asking Health Minister Djamal Oueld Abbas to resolve the regulatory council of pharmacists.
Pharmacists said the current council is just a body without soul since it lost legitimacy derived originally from defending their rights. They also condemn decisions which threaten of withdrawing their accreditation, saying that it is not fair.
Pharmacists asserted that protests are a result of the absence of the National Council‘s assistance because a large number of them were accused of selling hallucinogenic drugs and placed under judicial follow up, however, customers who falsify doctors’ prescriptions were the real behind this problem, adding that Some pharmacists were also accused of selling corrupt drugs.
They also speak about the system of rotation that has not been amended since 1997.
