Algerian foreign ministry assigned Algiers’ Ambassador to Paris Ammar Ben Djamaa to contact French newspaper Le Monde for “falsifying facts.” The latter published Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s picture with other head of States involved in tax evasion, Echorouk has learnt.
The Ambassador said Le Monde targeted Algeria while the newspaper said the publication of the photo was misunderstood and the President’s name was not mentioned in Panama Papers.
According to the same source, Le Monde had an intention to give the impression that it was a misunderstanding.
The issue may be raised during a meeting of joint Algerian-French commission due to be held next week.
