For the last thirty years Paris Book Fair has been the key opportunity for countries to enhance their brand image, expand their network and keep abreast of industry developments.

Algeria participates in Paris International Book Fair 2011, which started on Thursday evening and will end on march 21, with over 4000 books, more than 600 titles and 36 publishers, including the National Agency for Publication and Publicity (ANEP), the National Foundation for Printing Arts and other Companies of Publication such as “Kasbah”, “Chihab”, “Alfa”, and “El Barzakh”.

Algeria occupies, since many years, a 60m2 pavilion and participates with new works (2010-2011) that reflect the diversity and value of Algeria Book production.

“Algerian publishers aim in this international event to develop partnership with French publishers, distributors and libraries in order to upgrade their products in France”? Manager of distribution at the National Company of Printing Arts said.

“Algeria participation is honorable after the exceptional circumstances which erupted forcing it to miss some important international events”, Head of the National Library Azzedine Mihoubi said.

“Algeria, which has a large community in France, can also mark presence through creativity, especially since Algerian authors and publishers realized that they have to expand their horizons to compete with International authors”, he added.

Algerian pavilion was inaugurated by representatives of Culture Ministry, Algerian Cultural Center and National Publishers.

Reflecting the changes taking place in its marketplace in both France and internationally, the Fair is moving into a new phase and expanding its range of trade activities to encompass workshops, the digital space, the rights centre, the international space, the SCELF audiovisual rights market and a conference program consisting of some 50 talks and lectures on all aspects of the book and publishing.

Paris Book Fair has opted for a more dynamic format this year. It invites exhibitors and visitors to book a table at the International Rights and Licensing Centre over four days, from Friday 18th to Monday 21st March 2011, at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre in Paris.
