Parliamentary Investigation on Education Minister's Reforms
Education Minister, Nouria Benghabrit, will attend before the members of the Committee on Education and Higher Education and Religious Affairs of the Lower Chamber of Parliament, in order to listen to the sector’s issues, including the launch of what became known as the “second generation” of reforms.
This comes to clarify Benghabrit’s orientations that sparked large controversy in the educational sector, between the school’s partners, and the civil society in general, as they viewed her resolutions with suspicion, and her way to deal with educational reform.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Higher Education and Religious Affairs,Mostafa Kehileche, told Echorouk, on Sunday, that the committee summoned the Minister of Education, Nouria Benghabrit, to listen to her today, in order to inform parliamentarians directly on all the details of the reforms that spark anger among Algerians.
“The committee will express its opinion very clearly in this file, after knowing all the mysteries of the subject by the sector’s Minister”.
“Follow-up by the chairman and members of the Committee for the reform news through media, left the impression that there are things that are not so good and require clarification and explanation, prompting the committee to ask her to justify her choices, and explain the criticism that is pursuing her work by partners and observers of Education in our country.”
Previously, the committee met, on Sunday, with a group of experts in education issues, led by Abdelkader Fodil, a member of the “National Committee for the reform of educational system” in 2003, to understand what is going on in the sector these days, and listen to specialists’ views before the confrontation.
This means that Ben Ghabrit session with the people’s Congress will not be just a “technical meeting” in the framework of parliamentary follow-up on the sector’s affairs, but will be an interesting “trial” of a lady that has long presented herself in the form of “iron lady”, and stubborn in defending her thoughts, since she was known by followers of Educational Affairs, through her membership in the committee of Benzaghou, especially since deputies from the “Green Bloc” has vowed to punish her, and confront her with all the evidence and arguments on the implementation of plans which they described as “subversive French”!
