Peugeot Factory to Open Officially in Algeria by Mid-April

French-Algerian Business Committee, is expected to meet on mid-April, as the two parties will officially sign on the car project “Peugeot Algeria” factory by Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, and his French counterpart Manuel Valls, along with a number of agreements, after the committee was expected to be organized on February 21, then the meeting was delayed primarily for political reasons that are linked to the government’s concern with the draft amendment of the Constitution.

General Manager of the Complex “Condor” and a contributor to “Peugeot Algeria” factory, Abderrahmane Ben Hamadi, told Echorouk that the signing of Peugeot Algeria factory convention would be in the middle of next April, through the Joint Business Committee between France and Algeria, which will be supervised by the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, and his French counterpart, Manuel Valls.

“Algeria-French agreement was expected to be signed on February 21, but the process was delayed for political reasons, that are away from the delay of the project in Algeria, which file will be folded along with several business agreements between Algeria and France.”

“Peugeot Algeria factory file cut significant strides after determining achievement area”, and he denied that it will be established in Oued Tlilat along with Renault Algeria factory, but it will be in Karma in Oran Province (western Algeria), where they will soon end the procedures for obtaining the property, to start works, through the preparation of an appropriate action plan, and the completion of the new models of cars.

“Even if the agreement’s signing was delayed, but it does not mean that the works will stop, as the signing of the contract is only a protocol procedure, and everything is fine at the time limit.”

For reference, Condor company will be a partner by 15.5%, and will be a spare parts’ manufacturer for Peugeot company, with the recruitment of 350 Algerians, in direct positions, which is equivalent to 2500 Algerians within the handling companies context, which will work along with the cars’ factory to support it with basic materials, and the national institution for the production of utilitarian machines will contribute by 20%, and 15.5% for a private enterprise for the pharmaceutical industry, and the remaining 49% for the French Peugeot company.
