PM Ouyahia's “self effacement” stokes unbridled speculation about his possible departure

PM Ouyahia's “self effacement” stokes unbridled speculation about his possible departure

A conference bringing together the three parties of the Presidential alliance including the FLN, the RND and the MSP opened Thursday in Algiers in the presence of about 500 delegates representing various national organizations and political figures but in the striking absence of Prime Minister and SG of the RND party Ahmed Ouyahia.

  • Surprisingly enough, Ahmed Ouyahia has delegated a second-ranked RND militant to represent him during this timely conference aimed at highlighting to the world public opinion the horrendous crimes committed by French colonization in Algeria between 1830 and 1962, the date of Algeria’s accession to freedom and independence after untold human sacrifices.

  •
  • This conference is expected to culminate in the adoption of a communiqué and a set of recommendations about the criminalization of French colonization in Algeria.
  •
  •
  •
  • Ouhahia’s protracted absence from the political scene marked by his non-participation in this landmark conference beside the leaders of the two parties making up the presidential alliance has sparked off unbridled speculation about his possible departure from the premiership shortly.
  •
  •
  •
  • Some political analysts surmise that Ahmed Ouhahia’s low-profile attitude in recent weeks notably his lack of any reaction to the latest burning developments unfolding in the country and overseas might be interpreted as a “self-effacement” synonymous with a possible resignation from his post of Prime Minister in the very near future.

  •
  •
  • However, such speculations have so far remained only on the air within political circles but with no official confirmation as to a possible departure of the prime minister, they added.
