Police commitments to ensure safety and fight oppression

National Police Department will issue a charter on rules and guidelines for policemen. It includes clauses about providing public service.

National police chief Abdelghani Hamel said policemen must satisfy, receive and treat citizens in a good way. The Department is in charge of ensuring the safety of people and properties and maintaining public order in accordance to laws and human rights principles.

The Charter also includes police job description: good reception and treatment, professional service, satisfying citizens, building proximity relations within society, taking into consideration people’s opinions.

The Charter also committed to maintain people’s safety, protect properties and fight crimes.

It also pled to ensure traffic safety, meet requests on time and provide information at the right time.

Copies of the document will be distributed to all the reception rooms at security departments.

This comes as the government met, a week ago, 17 demands submitted by protesting policemen in order to improve their professional and social conditions.
