Polisario Front To Mohammed VI: “Your Speech Is Miserable”

Western Sahara Foreign Minister, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Ould Salek said on Wednesday in response to the King of Morocco’s speech that “Morocco is swimming against the tide.”

Ould Salek added in a press conference, on Wednesday, at the Embassy of Western Sahara in Algiers:  “The king of Morocco’s speech on the occasion of the anniversary of the aggression against the Sahrawi Republic and the military invasion of our pristine lands, is miserable and foolish speech. It embodies folly in its deepest manifestations and recklessness in its different meanings.”

“Intransigent approach that is taken by the King of Morocco will inevitably lead the throne to the abyss. He renounces the agreement that is signed by his father Hassan II after 16 years of fierce war between the Sahraoui and Moroccan armies and trampling on the resolutions of international legitimacy in an attempt to repel the eyes of his aspiring people to the most basic rights of citizenship, dignity and sovereignty, and will lead the Moroccan people to more poverty, ignorance and deprivation and the Kingdom of Morocco to an unknown future and greater isolation at the regional, continental and international levels”.

“We told the King of Morocco that the Saharaoui people is ready to raise all the challenges. We assure them that the only solution is to end their abhorrent illegal occupation, withdraw their forces that are stationed in our country and stop its barbaric aggression against our people and its various institutions against our citizens and stop plundering our wealth.”

Regarding the position of the Saharaoui government and the Polisario Front, the Foreign Minister reiterated “the readiness and cooperation of the Saharaoui parties with the General Secretary of the United Nations and the African Union to decolonize their last strongholds in Africa, Western Sahara, on the basis of full respect for the nature of the conflict as a decolonization issue according to an agreement under their supervision in 1991 and in line with their decisions.”

“The year 2017 was full of great victories for the Sahraoui cause. The unfair trial against the historical heroes of Akdim Izik has led to a trial of the illegal occupation of Western Sahara, thanks to the courage of our detainees and the support of the Saharaoui people, and thanks to the support of all human rights organizations around the world, and hundreds of personalities and institutions as well.”

This year, the President of the Sahara Diplomacy added: “The Sahara state strengthened  its position in Africa and internationally. The accession of Morocco to the African Union and its signature and ratification of the Constitutive Charter of the Union, which obliges it to respect its existing borders upon independence and its forced presence to side with the Sahraoui Republic after more than three decades of boycotting and quarrels is only a conclusive evidence that the Sahraoui national reality that is represented by the Sahraoui Republic can not be ignored or neglected or denied”.

“The year 2017 also witnessed a great siege on the looting of the desert natural resources, and strengthening the legal file by practical legal and political measures on the European and African arenas after the decision of the European Court of Justice to nullify the partnership agreements with the Moroccan occupier which includes the wealth of Western Sahara, considering that the international community does not recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over our country, as confirmed by the Luxembourg Court in its ruling on agricultural products and fishing, because the European Union as a regional organization and its member states at the individual level does not recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara”.
