Politicians show grief over Ait Ahmed’s death
Algeria’s former President Liamine Zeroual, war veterans and politicians showed grief over Hocine Ait Ahmed’s death They described him as the “country’s last father” and the “great leader.”
Saidani: Ait Ahmed underwent injustice
Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saidani condemned injustice imposed on late war veteran Ait Ahmed.
“Ait Ahmed is one of Algeria’s symbols. Unfortunately, he was not treated properly. Proud Algerians should organize official funerals in every town,” he told journalists on Thursday.
Speaking about injustice undergone by a number of personalities, Saidani said late President Mohamed Boudiaf and current President Abdelaziz Bouteflika were also exposed to injustice.
Ouyahia: we lost a leader
Acting Secretary General of Algeria’s RND party Ahmed Ouyahia said Algeria has lost a symbol and a leader of the liberation revolution.
“He struggled for freedom and democracy. He made a difference between legitimate opposition and Algeria,” he added.
Liamine Zeroual: we lost Algeria’s last father
Algeria’s former President Liamine Zeroual sent a condolences letter to Ait Ahmed’s party FFS, saying the country has lost its last father.
“Ait Ahmed was a symbol of perseverance and moral commitment,” said the letter.
