Prisoners’ convoy attacked by terrorists in Tizi Ouzou

The Algerian security forces have yesterday foiled a terrorist attack that targeted a vehicle belonging to the penitentiary authorities carrying prisoners from the court of Tizi Ouzo, 100 KMS east of Algiers, heading for the prison of Draa Al Mizan.

• The attack left two injuries among the wardens who where evacuated to the area hospital.

• The attack took place yesterday at around 1 pm at a place known as “ the black bridge” on highway 25 linking the locality of Ait Yahia Moussa to Draa Al Mizan, reliable sources revealed to Echourok.

• The convoy was attacked in an ambush set up by the terrorist group who were hiding in a forest-covered area and fired at the vehicle upon its arrival at their level.

• The prisoners were transferred to the penitentiary of Draa Al Mizan after being found guilty of numerous charges including robbery and drug smuggling.

• A large-scale combing operation has been launched by the security forces right after the attack to hunt down the criminals who carried out the act, it said.
