Projected UAE investments in energy and agriculture in Algeria

The Minister of economic development of the government of Abou Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Nacer Ben Ahmed Al Souidi, who is now on a working visit to Algeria at the head of an important delegation made up of business managers and economic operators, has expressed his country's readiness to upgrade and diversify its links of cooperation with Algeria in various fields of endeavour. 

• Mr. Al Souidi made the statement after being received yesterday in Algiers, together with his accompanying delegation, by the President of the Republic Mr. Abdellaziz Bouteflika.

• During the encounter, the 2 sides made an overall assessment of the Algerian-Emirati cooperation and ways of giving it a fresh and solid impulse in view of the vast and enticing investment opportunities available on the Algerian market.

• The visiting Emirati delegation earlier met with several Algerian ministers including the minister of industry and investment promotion, Abdelhamid Temmar.

• The Emirati official told the press at the end of the working session, held behind closed doors, that his government was interested in the achievement of several vital economic projects in Algeria notably in the fields of energy, electric power and agriculture with a focus on the food processing industry.

• He also indicated that the encounter was an opportunity for Emirati businessmen to assess investment opportunities in these sectors of activity.
