Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa thanks Algeria for its support
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika offered a hearty celebration to The Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani who entered Algeria immediately after his country had been chosen to host the World Cup 2022.
- Silence was kept on this visit which was an opportunity to President Bouteflika to renew Algeria’s support to the first Arab country hosting the World Cup.
- Though Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa’s official visit on Thursday to Algeria was scheduled and was postponed for many times, talks between the two presidents were about current issues including the Western Sahara issue and Algeria’s commitment to accredit Al Jazeera’s office soon.
- Algerian Prime Minsiter Ahmed Ouyahia and foreign minister Mourad Medelci attended the talks. They congratulated Qatar for hosting the World Cup 2022. The Prince thanked President Bouteflika and Algerian authorities for supporting Qatar. Talks also dealt with an attempt of Qatari mediation between Algeria and Morocco following the Moroccan escalation.
- Qatar suggested calming down the situation and bringing the Algerian Moroccan relations back to its state far from escalation language.
- Qatar’s Emir told reporters “relation between Qatar and Algeria is exceptional and the two countries study from time to time their issues and Arab World’s ones.”
- Algeria said to Qatar the accreditation of Al Jazeera’s offices will be decided soon and it will accredit the channel before the Arab World Cup.
