Real-estate distributors to collect house taxes

The National Federation of Real-estate Agencies suggested to assign accredited distributors to collect taxes. This would be a “good” solution instead of imposing new taxes on houses in the Financial Act 2017, according to its head Abdelhakim Aouidat.

Aouidat Tuesday told Echorouk the housing ministry gave a new deadline for real-estate distributors to settle their legal situation by the end of October. This is meant to organize real-estate market before applying new measures.

“Real-estate market is controlled by illegal mediators who have nothing to do with the profession. Because of that, any real-estate distributor who wants to continue working should settle his legal situation. This would enable the ministry to apply other measures to organize the market,” he added.

Speaking about possible new taxes on houses in 2017, Aouidat said his federation suggests to establish a law to give the right to distributors to collect taxes in black market. This would oblige tax evaders to pay taxes.

“If we allow 3,000 distributors to collect money, we will gain large sums in the black market,” he added.
