The Union of University Hospital Researcher Teachers will submit a demands request to the Prime Minister, the health and work ministers to examine their professional problems.

“A huge number of experts and researchers left Algeria to live abroad because their professional situation was not settled, examination exams were frozen and young competences were not given opportunities to reach senior positions. They did not have adequate conditions to work and conduct researches. Meanwhile, many foreign countries benefited from competences who studied in Algeria,” the Union’s leader Ouahiba Ouahioune told Echorouk on Sunday.

“We asked for a meeting with minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf to discuss all those points. Letters will be sent to the Prime Minister and the work minister.

Speaking about retirement issue, the Union’s Secretary General Professor Reda Djedjik said a pervious letter was sent to the Prime Minister who said his department was examining it.

“Retirement issue for university hospital researcher teachers is still unclear due to unbalance in pensions law. Contrarily to all the employees, this category can not go on retirement only after 65,” he said.

He added that a large number of hospital teachers and researchers did not retire although they are more than 70. “Freezing competition exams is a bureaucratic hindrance which does not enable young competences to hold senior positions.”

“We want to see a department chief and a professor who is no more than 40 years old.”
