Retired executives sell Sonatrach tied accommodations illegally

Hundreds of Sonatrach’s retired executives sold tied accommodations in Hassi Messaoud (south of Algiers) illegally to people working for foreign companies. That would make the Algerian energy group not able to shelter its employees, Echorouk has learnt.

• Some Sonatrach’s assets are stolen and the administration does not react to stop illegal sale operations, sources say.

• Sonatrach is experiencing difficult conditions because of mismanagement and corruption-related scandals. Its social affairs department found out that villas and apartments were illegally sold.

• These illegal operations would create big problems in terms of tied accommodations in Hassi Messaoud. The houses are bought by foreign companies which prefer to provide their executives with financial support to get or rent houses. This made Sonatrach’s tied accommodations an opportunity for foreign companies’ employees.
