Retirement law To Undergo Some Changes Next Week

Preliminary report for the draft Retirement Law will be deposited next week at the council’s office, in order to be presented to the MPs in the same week, Chairman of the Committee of Health, Social Affairs and Labor at the National People’s Council, Ali Milakhso, told Echorouk.

“Parties which criticize the draft law should know that the MPs will vote in parliament on some of the amendments and that it will not be abolished as demanded by some”.

“Individual meetings are still ongoing, with the syndicates, to discuss all the workers’ proposals for modifying the retirement law that is currently in Parliament, where they was a meeting, in the last hours between teachers’ syndicates “CNAPEST”, doctors and paramedical services, and a team of doctors from the university hospital of Mustapha Pacha, and they discussed all the criticism of the new Retirement Law, which includes the abolition of proportional and pre-retirement and formally as of next January”.

“Individual meetings that are open unofficially will remain until next week. Our commission is open to all those who wish to submit their proposals including the syndicates, and those who provided comments and readings on the text of the new draft law to the extent time, are syndicates that are affiliated to the General Union of Algerian Workers, while independent unions did not ask for any meeting or clarification”.

“These meetings are not to abolish the law, as expected by many, but only to provide some of the proposals that were prepared by Commission and which may be omitted, after the observations of all the parties that are concerned in the procedures of the draft law”.

“Preliminary report will be ready in a matter of a week to be presented to voting, and put it on the MPs table, who will have the decisive word. Meetings which were previously held with the various bodies’ officials like the General Manager of the Retirement Fund “CNR”, who painted a black picture of the financial situation of the Fund, which is unable to pay the pre-retirement benefits for more years, as officials who benefited from the situation took large sums of money, at a time when the retirement fund can only pay the pensions of 6 months for Algerians retirees, which requires the need to sound the alarm”.
